Welcome to the Pairing Analysis Committee page!

The main role of the Pairing Analysis Committee is to review pairings for contract compliance, productivity and Part 117 legality.
Our work also runs parallel with the PBS, Hotel, Negotiating, and other various Safety/Fatigue groups within Compass ALPA.

Reviewing contract and trip pairing issues is quite an undertaking. Both of our mainline partners, American Airlines and Delta Air Lines, frequently change and edit their flight schedules.  These schedule changes can happen as late as the first week of the month before the flights are scheduled to operate.  With numerous pairings in each bid packet, there are many contract compliance checks that are performed to ensure the best compromise among the many challenges within our network.

Your Pairing Analysis Committee works to find a good balance for crewmembers, when it comes to how trips are built and carried out. When we do find issues, we address them and work with Crew Scheduling/Planning to find an alternative.  The committee also closely works with the company to ensure that deadheads are not only minimized, but from a safety perspective, we review the possibility of increased fatigue calls on unproductive/difficult trips, and help to mitigate that by adjusting the report times/overnight hours/or an outright trip change.

The Pairing Analysis Committee also monitors future American Airlines and Delta Air Lines flight schedules so we advise other groups within Compass ALPA who can benefit from this information.  For example, our various Safety related groups can examine new markets for operational considerations. And in the event that a new city appears on our schedule-the Hotel committee will then have additional time researching properties in those effected cities.

Please contact us with any feedback on your pairings or problems you have observed on the line at CPZpairingalanysis@alpa.org
