ALPA is a volunteer driven organization. The work of running a union, regardless of size, is a daunting task and requires  many different individuals to come together to work towards a common goal. The MEC is always looking for volunteers to help with tasks. Most all work for the MEC will be preformed on a volunteer basis during a pilot’s free time. MEC Executive Administrator

The Executive Administrator works closely with the entire MEC to ensure systems and processes are running smoothly. They will also coordinate MEC meetings and events and ensure any lodging for the MEC is booked.

Membership Committee Member

The Membership Committee is looking for an MSP FO who is interested in assisting with the New Hire Presentations. Duties would include heading to the ALPA office and preparing folders/goodie-bags and ordering food before heading to Pan Am and presenting to new hire classes.

Communications Committee Hotline Editor

The Hotline publication is produced in a collaborative effort from every committee and curated by a Hotline coordinator as well as members of our representation team. For those who may be looking to donate your time to the pilot group, this is an active and direct method to do so. Previous editing or journalism experience, while helpful, is not required.

The team needs three new Hotline editors. In brief, the job consists of soliciting and editing articles from committee members on a biweekly basis, as well as the distribution of Hotline Extras on an as-needed basis. Expectations would include the carrying of a laptop (recommended) on your trips to perform these tasks. Training will be provided on the various programs and web interfaces required for the job.

Contract Committee Member


A volunteer on the committee will work with the chairman to enforce the contract and perform background research to prepare for contract meetings with the company. They will also be required to attend regular contract meetings with the company in Minneapolis. A working knowledge of the contract is required as well as an ability to professionally communicate with pilots, company personnel and ALPA Staff to enforce the contract.
