Special Tracking Training Program

What is Special Tracking training?
How do I know if I have to do Special Tracking training?
Who notifies me when to complete the training?
What happens if I fail my Special Tracking training?

Special Tracking is an additional training program used in Compass Airlines’ Advanced Qualification Program (AQP).  The program is designed to monitor a pilot’s proficiency at scheduled intervals with more frequent training and feedback than the standard Continuing Qualification (CQ) or recurrent training cycle.  It is not intended as a means of adding evaluations.

Pilots are entered into Special Tracking if they were unsuccessful at demonstrating proficiency to the level set by the AQP qualification standards during an evaluation event.  There are also additional criteria Compass Airlines established for determining when a pilot is placed in Special Tracking.  See the table below to determine if you may fall into the category of the Special Tracking Training Program:

Pilots who are entered in the Special Tracking Training Program are monitored by the Manager of Flight Operations Training and Training Records.  If you find yourself having to do Special Tracking training, you should be notified by either the Manager of Flight Operations Training or Training Scheduling in advance of when the training will occur.  Special Tracking training is in addition to the standard recurrent training cycle (6-month, 9-month, and 12-month).  If a pilot successfully completes his/her Special Tracking training, they will return to the normal recurrent training cycle.  However, if a pilot is unsuccessful during their Special Tracking training, they will be referred to the Training Review Board (TRB).

Special Tracking training falls under the same “grace month” concept as recurrent training.  You can be scheduled to complete your Special Tracking training the month prior, month of, or month after the month you are due for the training.  If you find yourself in a position where the training does not get completed before the end of your grace month, you should still be able to bid for a line in PBS; however, you will not be able to fly until the Special Tracking training is satisfactorily completed.
